Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Would a compact 50 × 60-inch throw suit the chair or lap area you want to warm?
The HD61 is listed as a 50 × 60-inch throw. It is not a bed-sized blanket or a fitted mattress pad, and the published footprint does not promise the same coverage for every person or chair.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a fixed four-hour automatic shutoff the latest interval you will accept?
The HD61 manual specifies a four-hour continuous-use shutoff. It is not adjustable to a shorter or longer timer.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want at least four controller heat levels and a microplush-labelled blanket?
The manual identifies four heat settings and lists the blanket material as Microplush; it does not state fiber percentages or describe each side separately.
Explore this need in the finder →Beurer’s HD61 is a compact 50 × 60-inch heated throw for one seated lounging spot. Its exact instructions list four heat levels, a fixed four-hour shutoff and Microplush as the blanket material. The page also advertises an approximately 40-second warm-up, but that is a manufacturer claim rather than a measurement from independent testing.
A short throw for a chair, not a bed-sized layer
The HD61 is small enough to make sense on a sofa, armchair or lap, but it is not designed to cover an entire bed. At 50 × 60 inches, its longer side is the same as the shorter throws in this category and may leave less drape for a taller user than a 50 × 70-inch throw. The official U.S. page lists a weight of 3.6 pounds. Beurer does not publish a fit chart, fiber percentages, fabric weight, pile depth or a measured warmth comparison, so the size and the Microplush label are more dependable shopping details than a promise about how it will feel on a particular person.
The official instructions call the blanket material Microplush, while the product page emphasizes a soft, lint-free fabric and a pale, neutral appearance. The exact product image shows a white-appearing folded throw and its one wired hand controller. Beurer does not identify the packshot as a physical photograph, composite or digital rendering. Nor does the manual describe separate face and reverse fabrics; don’t assume a reversible Sherpa backing or a specific fiber blend.
Four levels with a fixed four-hour stop
One handheld controller cycles through four levels. The instructions describe the lowest as low heat, settings two and three as medium, and the highest as high. They do not supply exact temperatures for those levels. Beurer’s page says the heating coils warm in approximately 40 seconds, but the manual gives no timing method or independent performance measurement. Treat it as a product-page claim, not a guarantee that the whole blanket reaches a certain temperature in that time.
The automatic shutoff is fixed at four continuous hours. It is useful if your seated session normally ends before then; it is a poor fit if you want to set a shorter timer or need the heat to continue longer without restarting. A timer and overheat protection are not permission to leave the blanket unattended: the manual says not to leave it unattended and warns that burns can occur at any controller level. It also says not to use it with an infant, an immobile person or someone insensitive to heat, and not to use it on moving furniture such as a rocking chair, recliner or wheeled chair.
For setup, the HD61 is a corded U.S. model. Its instructions say to connect the controller to the blanket first and then plug into a 120-volt AC outlet. The manual does not publish the cord length or wattage in the sections inspected, so this review cannot tell you whether its reach fits a distant chair. It is not a battery-powered wrap, and no independent side controls are supplied. Check the outlet route before you settle in, keep the cord visible and unpinched, and do not tuck the blanket or cord into furniture.
Washing is possible, but not a quick dryer cycle
Beurer says the controller detaches for machine washing. The model manual adds a careful wash sequence: hand wash or use a washer with lukewarm water, slow agitation and normal spin; use a small amount of ordinary detergent; soak five minutes, agitate two, then rinse with cool water and spin. For drying, the manual permits a high-heat dryer for five minutes only or line drying. Remove the blanket while still damp, stretch it back toward its original size and drape it to finish drying. Reconnect only once fully dry. Do not iron, bleach, dry-clean, use solvents or wring it, and never immerse the controller. If you need bedding that can be washed and returned to use immediately after one dryer cycle, this is not that low-effort routine.
The 2026 HD61 booklet gives the original purchaser a five-year limited warranty, subject to proof of purchase and its written terms. Keep the receipt and check that the seller qualifies before relying on coverage. The page’s OEKO-TEX Standard 100 reference is a manufacturer claim about the textile; it does not tell you the fiber percentage or replace the operating warnings.
Who should choose it—and what to compare
The HD61 makes sense for someone who wants a small, light-colored throw, four simple heat steps and a four-hour cutoff for an outlet-near chair. Skip it if your essential need is a larger sleeping-bed layer, split controls for a couple, cordless use, a selectable timer, a known cord length or a fully machine-dryer-ready blanket. Its 50 × 60-inch footprint also deserves a careful check if you need more leg coverage than a compact throw can provide.
Beurer’s HD71 uses the same 50 × 60-inch footprint and four controller levels but has a two-hour shutoff and a published 100-watt rating, so it suits a shorter session rather than someone who specifically needs four hours. If the four-hour stop matters but you want a documented eight-foot cord and brushed fleece on both sides, compare Sunbeam’s black 50 × 60-inch SKU 14579; that model has a different surface label and its own care directions. For bed coverage or partner-specific control, move to a bed blanket or a fitted pad instead of stretching a throw across a mattress.
Read Beurer’s exact HD61 product page and its model-specific instructions before use. Follow the supplied label and manual, especially the cautions about use by people who may not sense heat, folds, furniture and cord routing.
