A useful fit for

A solo sleeper who wants a small heated area under the fitted sheet can consider its single 31.5 × 59-inch plan. It is not a full-width Twin pad, top blanket, Queen/King dual-control layer or standard fitted pad with a published mattress-depth range.

The main tradeoff

It offers eight heat settings and a 10-hour timed option but has only one controller and no separately controlled body/feet zones. The Always On selection is not an automatic shutoff. Its narrow footprint and unknown maximum mattress depth rule it out for larger-bed coverage or a hard depth-fit requirement.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need a personal underblanket beneath the usual sheets rather than a top blanket or full-width bed pad?

The UWB55 manual positions one narrow 31.5 × 59-inch underblanket on a mattress beneath normal bed sheets, held with three straps. It is not a top layer or a standard Twin-width pad.

Would one controller with eight levels and a timed choice reaching ten hours meet your control needs?

The model manual gives one controller, eight numbered heat levels and timed shutoff options of 1, 2 or 10 hours, alongside a separate Always On option. It does not provide independent sides or body/feet zones.

Is the narrow 59-inch length enough, without requiring a published mattress-depth limit?

The manual sizes the solo underblanket at 31.5 × 59 inches. It describes securing straps but does not state the maximum mattress depth; a hard depth requirement cannot be verified.

The Beurer UWB55 is a narrow personal heated underblanket that sits beneath normal bed sheets, not a top blanket or a full-width Twin pad. Its exact manual lists an eight-level controller, timed shutoff choices of one, two or ten hours, a separate Always On option and 50 watts on 120-volt household power.

A personal under-sheet layer, not a standard bed size

The UWB55 measures 31.5 by 59 inches according to its model manual. Beurer calls it an individual-use underblanket, and the manual explains how to spread it across the mattress beneath the usual sheets. It is narrow by design: it warms one zone, rather than covering the full width of a Twin mattress or serving both sides of a larger bed. Do not translate “solo” into “Twin.” If you need heat across a standard bed-size mattress, compare the listed footprint with your mattress or choose a model sold in that bed size.

Setup is more involved than laying down an ordinary fitted pad. The manual says to begin at the foot of the mattress with the connector toward the head, then attach the three supplied securing straps to the pad’s loops and route the straps under the mattress. Place sheets and other bedding on top as usual. It is not an elastic-skirt pad with a published deep-pocket limit: Beurer does not state a maximum mattress depth for the UWB55. A hard depth requirement is therefore unanswered, even though straps are provided.

One controller with eight settings and a long timed option

The included controller has a switch plus separate heat and timer buttons. It provides eight numbered levels: level one is minimum, levels two through seven are described as medium and level eight is maximum. There is one selectable setting for the whole small underblanket; the manual does not show independent bed sides or body-and-feet zones. This suits someone who wants one straightforward control area, but it cannot meet a need for separate partner controls.

Timer behavior needs a careful read. The model instructions list one-hour, two-hour and ten-hour shutoff settings, plus “Always On.” The ten-hour choice is the longest timed shutoff; Always On is not a timer and does not promise an automatic stop. The manual says the underblanket starts at level eight and a ten-hour timer by default. It warns not to fall asleep with level eight selected, and recommends level four or lower for all-night use if you do not switch it off before sleeping. Treat the manual’s actual instructions—not the number of timer choices in a product-page bullet—as the operating guide.

The rating is 50 W at 120 V / 60 Hz, according to the UWB55 technical specifications. This is a corded household product, not a battery blanket. The reviewed page and manual do not specify the power-cord length, so plan where the outlet and controller will sit rather than assuming the cable reaches a distant side table.

Care means a complete air-dry

The underblanket is machine washable only by the detailed method in the manual; hand washing is also allowed. Unplug it and disconnect the controller before cleaning. For the washer, use warm water, a minimum amount of all-purpose detergent, slow agitation and normal spin. The instructions call for a five-minute soak, two minutes of agitation and a cool rinse with brief agitation and spin. Then line dry or use a rack. While it is damp, gently stretch it back toward its original shape and let it finish drying. Do not tumble dry, bleach, wring, iron or dry-clean it. Do not reconnect the controller until both the underblanket and connectors are completely dry, and never switch it on to make it dry faster.

The UWB55 manual’s specification names the cover material as 100% polyester. The exact product page separately lists a weight of 3.3 pounds; the manual does not state that weight. The image shows a white-looking quilted surface and one controller, but the manufacturer does not say whether the image is a photograph, composite or digital rendering. Its appearance cannot establish feel, durability or mattress fit.

Who should consider it—and what to compare

This model suits a single sleeper who wants a relatively small under-sheet warming zone and is comfortable securing straps and following a careful wash-and-dry routine. It has more timer flexibility than the Beurer UWB70 Queen and UWB80 King pads in one respect: its timed setting can reach ten hours, while their shared manual tops out at nine. But its footprint is much narrower, its bed fit is personal-size rather than Queen or King, and it lacks their two controllers with separate body and feet settings. The UWB70 and UWB80 are better to compare if partner controls or a full Queen/King surface matter; neither is a substitute for the UWB55’s solo dimensions.

For standard Twin, Full, Queen or King coverage, compare the current Sunbeam 32810140 fitted-pad sizes instead. Its page-linked instructions document a twelve-hour maximum timer, and the exact images show one controller for Twin/Full and two for Queen/King. Beurer’s larger UWB70/UWB80 plans provide the clearer mattress-depth limit—up to 18 inches—but are restricted to Queen and King. If a specific depth rating is essential, do not count the UWB55 as a match: the manual gives straps, not a maximum-depth figure.

Warranty wording also deserves a check. The 2021 UWB55 booklet says limited lifetime coverage for the original purchaser, while Beurer North America’s current U.S./Canada policy is described as five-year limited. Those terms differ; verify the applicable written coverage for the item and seller. The manual’s safety section also says not to use this underblanket on a damp mattress or waterbed, when folded or bunched, as a top layer, or with an infant or someone who cannot reliably sense heat. Read the full booklet before use and follow its warnings.
